November 2009 - World Experts – Bioneers Presenters - Visit Avalon

The Avalon Springs team felt right at home at the Bioneers Conference in Marin. Working the booth, we met hundreds of people dedicated to co-creating integrated solutions for our new sustainable human culture. They all came together to hear some of the world’s top experts in local economy, food justice, ecological solutions and designs, and community-building speak openly about their research, their work, and the cutting-edge solutions being created to serve the world.

After the conference, Avalon welcomed a group of 35 Bioneers Presenters including renowned experts in food sustainability, integrated water systems, documentary filmmaking, community organizing, indigenous spirituality and artistic creation. These folks enjoyed a relaxing day at Avalon Springs, soaking, dining, and receiving bodywork. The springs themselves seemed to sing with purpose, as the waters served to relax and connect these leaders, giving them an ideal atmosphere to have the conversations that matter.

At the end of the day, the participants expressed deep gratitude for the gift of relaxation in the midst of their busy lives full of travel and speaking engagements. They thanked us, and the land and waters of Avalon, for providing an inspiring place to connect with one another, forming alliances and friendships that will spawn further cross-pollination and co-creation.

The Avalon team onsite felt such elation and satisfaction, knowing that the purpose of our educational not-for-profit, World’s Emerging Culture, is already being fulfilled, grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such a meaningful offering.

November 2009 - Avalon Team is Tap Tap Tapping those fears away!
There are six full-time staff-members living at Avalon Springs through the Winter: Richard Bock, Mellissa Seaman, Bhakti Rinzler, Solyra Sepulveda, Veruschka Normandeau, and Bali Bock. While everyone is busy with the fundraising efforts, maintaining and cleaning our beloved Avalon, and hosting a few winter events, the team is also focusing more and more on the energetic and spiritual care of Avalon.

Since we are creating a new paradigm business/community with Avalon Springs, we recognize that there is natural resistance and fear that arises around trying something that is not already modeled in our culture. How can we assist ourselves in letting go of any resistance and fear that might be holding back the full ease-filled manifestation of this dream? The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a system that uses light tapping of the hand on certain meridian points to allow the body-mind to reprogram the belief structures, emotional charges, and old programming of a person.

Veruschka, (synergistichealing.net) who is co-managing the Avalon kitchen, as well as organizing beautiful spaces, is also an expert in guiding EFT with groups of people. So far, she has led the Avalon Team in sessions directed at releasing limiting beliefs around funding and manifesting Avalon, as well as a long powerful session releasing birth trauma, which, she says, can also slow down one’s ability to birth new things into the world.

Participants in both sessions noted feeling lighter, more optimistic, and energized after the sessions. The onsite team committed to continuing with EFT as one of the many tools we hope to implement to clear the way for Avalon to be born into the world with ease and joy. We are planning to share EFT through an upcoming event, so stay tuned and join in!

November 2009 - Fundraising Update
We are proud of our new and improved Financial Offering for Founding Members that provides return with interest, a tax deduction when the land passes into the non-profit ownership, AND an ongoing profit-share in the retreat center portion of the project. The offering is unique, in that it provides solid returns without selling out the land for profit. It is so unique and “out-of-the-box,” in fact, that many old-school investment brokers don’t know WHAT to do with it! We are receiving feedback like, “Wow, that’s amazing! But I don’t know how to categorize it,” to “If you’re not going to sell-out the land, I can’t sell it to my people,” to “Um, what does ‘eco’ mean?”

Fortunately, there is a growing movement of investors and brokers who specialize in new-paradigm investment opportunities. Recognizing that business-as-usual is no longer functioning predictably and well, people interested in making a difference by investing in projects that serve the earth, people, and leave a positive legacy for seven generations are coming together.

And these folks are really excited about Avalon’s new offering. Simona Musilkova is one example. She has made a career in investment banking managing hedge funds for high net-worth families and organizations. Three years ago, she decided that she could not continue business as usual as the entire market place, and the state of the earth, shifted around her. She started her own firm, and now connects investors with solid intelligent investments that support clean technology. She was delighted to hear about Avalon Springs, and sees Avalon as a perfect example of a new-paradigm investment opportunity that she can bring to those looking to make a difference as well as a financial legacy.

Avalon continues to offer investment opportunities for folks who may not have the minimum 100K for the Founding Member Offering. For example, starting at only $8,000, one can purchase a resort membership plan at Avalon Springs that provides a one-weekend stay every year at Avalon Springs ongoing forever, while supporting the initial build-out phase of the project. This is a critical time for fundraising. Avalon’s plans are complete. The team is ready. With the proper funding, Avalon could be built in the next year.

September 2009 - Sacred Space in Collaborative Conversation

Our Second collaborative conversation event drew 50 people together on Sept 13 to enjoy passionate conversations addressing the questions: What is Sacred Space? How do you Create it? What destroys it? How do you sustain it? The day culminated with the group self-organizing to create a spontaneous collective ritual for creating and enjoying sacred space together. Ken Homer of Collaborative Conversations facilitated the event, while Julie Gieseke of Map The Mind graphically recorded our conversations with beautiful mural art that synthesized the collective wisdom of the group. August 2009 - Pre-Construction work has begun with Beautification

We've repaired and beautified the front deck of the lodge, and added potted landscaping around the pools. We're finishing out our little proto-type natural building to be a welcome center, with new paths and landscaping. And the garden is getting outfitted with a new irrigation system filled with crystal clear water from our new well! As funding is raised, we continue to expand and beautify Avalon Springs, with intentions to begin major construction next year!

July 2009 - Permits are Complete

Avalon Springs is fully permitted to build and develop according to plans, with a Major Use Permit covering the ecovillage, retreat center, and special events/temple site plans fully approved! Big thank you to Lake County Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and our amazing design team!
