The Avalon team has developed
a world class Master Plan over the
last year to guide all implementation, construction and renovation here
at Avalon Springs. It will help us stay on track and true to our mission
and vision.
The Master
Plan consists of two beautiful full-color Master Plan documents
totaling 200 pages of plans, descriptions, plant species lists, conceptual
drawings, ecological zone schematics, and 3D presentations of the land,
the water, the food, the ecovillage, the retreat center, and the temple
complex.
Avalon is currently in the
process of preparing and filing applications with the county government
for all necessary permits for development of the entire Master Plan
and we expect to receive the permits by early 2008. We plan to implement
the Master Plan in 3 phases starting April 2008 over a period of approximately
3 years.
We are preparing all detailed
implementation plans and assembling the people/financial resources during
the rest of 2007 for Phase 1 development to begin in April 2008.
Some of the construction
and renovation projects will be handled by engaging outside professional
contractors while other projects and tasks within the development process
will be handled by Avalon’s internal project managers, teachers,
leaders, residents, interns, students and our greater community.
Avalon is currently looking
for individuals for the following positions to hold particular responsibilities
during the implementation of our Master Plan. If you, or anyone you
know, has relevant skills and experience, and are aligned and inspired
by the Avalon vision with a particular passion to fulfill any of these
roles as part of the Avalon implementation team, please contact

aligned” team over the next few months to help implement this awesome

Leaders & Companies are Needed at Avalon in the Following Areas
of Expertise
General Contractor
(1 or more companies)
We are looking to meet and engage one or more general contractors with
people, organization, bandwidth, experience in similar retreat center
projects, track record in delivering large scale complex projects and
a desire to help implement the construction and renovation of various
buildings at Avalon over the next few years. We seek companies that
are comfortable in both the main stream construction world and are spiritually
and consciously aware with experience and desire to work with green,
non-toxic, sustainable and natural materials. Start time – Spring
2008.
Swimming & Mineral
Pools Contractor (1 Company)
We seek an experienced person or company that has substantial experience
in constructing swimming pools, mineral pools and heating and filtration
systems for pools. We have to build approximately 10 pools. Persons/companies
that can work with Zen styles and creative, aesthetically beautiful
pool building with natural materials are ideal. Start time – Spring
2008.
Construction General
Manager (1 Position)
We seek an individual who is totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wishes to move to Avalon or lives near by, with
extensive (15+ years) experience in managing large complex construction
and renovation projects of similar or larger scale. This person has
experience in managing multiple parallel outside contractors, multiple
project managers and building teams reporting to them, interfacing with
our design team (architects, planners, engineers, Permaculture and Avalon
Core Council). High consciousness and interest in natural building and
non-toxic sustainable materials is ideal. Start time – Fall 2007.
Construction Project
Manager (2-4 Positions)
We seek individuals who are totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wish to move to Avalon or live near by, with
5+ years of experience in managing construction and renovation projects
and 4-20 person teams. High consciousness and interest in natural building
and non-toxic sustainable materials is ideal. Start time – Winter
2007.
Master Natural Builder
(1-2 Positions)
We seek individuals
who are totally aligned with Avalon’s mission and consciousness,
who wish to move to Avalon or live near by, with 15+ years of experience
in building with natural materials such as cob and strawbale, wood and
stone. Ability to supervise, teach and lead 4-6 Building Team Leaders
simultaneously, each managing a natural building project. High consciousness
and interest in natural building and non-toxic sustainable materials
is ideal. Start time – Winter 2007.
Natural Building
Team Leaders (2-4 Positions)
We seek individuals who are totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wish to move to Avalon or live near by, with
3+ years of experience in building with natural materials such as cob
and strawbale, wood and stone. High consciousness and interest in natural
building and non-toxic sustainable materials is ideal. Start time –
Spring 2008.
Natural Building
Interns (10-15 Positions)
We seek individuals who are totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wish to move to Avalon or live near by, with
interest in learning building with natural materials such as cob and
strawbale, wood and stone. High consciousness and interest in natural
building and non-toxic sustainable materials is ideal. Start time –
Spring 2008.
Admin Assistant to
Core Council (1 Position)
We seek an individual who is totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wishes to move to Avalon or live near by, with
10+ years of experience as an administrative assistant or executive
assistant or personal assistant to a senior executive (CEO/President/VP)
in the business world. Someone who is trained in the mainstream world
but has left the business world to work in a more meaningful lower stress
environment. Someone who has high bandwidth and knows how to figure
out things and get things done easily and gracefully. Prefer an individual
who can also do simple computer based book keeping. Start time –
immediately.
Master Gardener –
Manage Organic Vegetable Gardens (1 Position)
We seek an individual who is totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wishes to move to Avalon, with 15+ years of experience
in organic farming (5 acres or more) and managing vegetable market gardens.
Individuals with experience in bio-dynamic farming, radionics and permaculture
are ideal. A person who wants to be a gardener in community, and needs
land and a canvas to work their magic on. This person has strong interest
in helping co-create a 3-5 acre vegetable garden working with a team
of eager students/workers/residents and teach/lead teaching events in
the process. Start time – immediately.
Master Horticulturist–
Manage Propagation Program (1 Position)
We seek an individual who is totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wishes to move to Avalon, with 15+ years of experience
in propagation of vegetables, fruit trees, nut trees and edible/useful
plants. Individuals with experience in bio-dynamic farming, radionics
and permaculture are ideal. A person who wants to run a propagation
program in community, and needs land, green houses and nursery to work
their magic from. This person has strong interest in helping co-create
a 318 acre, permaculture inspired food forest working with a team of
eager students/workers/residents and junior horticulturists, and teach/lead
teaching events in the process. The propagation team will birth thousands
of trees and plants that will be planted all over Avalon land over the
next 3-5 years to create a food forest of diverse plants and trees.
Start time – immediately.
Master Horticulturist–
Fruit & Nut Orchard Development (1 Position)
We seek an individual who is totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wishes to move to Avalon, with 15+ years of experience
in developing, planting and managing orchards with fruit trees, nut
trees and edible/useful plants. Individuals with experience in bio-dynamic
farming, radionics and permaculture are ideal. A person who wants to
manage an orchard program in community, and needs land, and a propagation
program supporting them to work their magic from. This person has strong
interest in helping co-create a 318 acre, permaculture inspired food
forest working with a team of eager students/workers/residents and other
horticulturists, and teach/lead teaching events in the process. The
orchard team will plant thousands of trees and plants all over Avalon
land over the next 3-5 years to create a food forest of diverse plants
and trees. Start time – immediately.
Gardeners & Horticulturists
(4 Positions)
We seek individuals who are totally aligned with Avalon’s mission
and consciousness, who wish to move to Avalon, with 3 to 10+ years of
experience to make up the vegetable gardening, fruit/nut tree orchards
and propagation teams. Individuals with interest or experience in bio-dynamic
farming, radionics and permaculture are ideal. These individuals have
strong interest in helping co-create vegetable gardens, a 318 acre permaculture
inspired food/fruit/nut forest working with a team of inspiring horticulturists/teachers/leaders
and colleagues, and teach and learn in the process. Start time –
Fall 2007 to Spring 2008.
