Seasonal Ecovillage Twenty homes will house seasonal residents who spend one to three months a year living in the ecovillage. These seasonal residents will own their home as a fractional, sharing with several other owners who come during the other months of the year. For example, one group will come in July. That same group will live in the ecovillage every July, growing closer year by year. That group will look forward to their July together at Avalon Springs, their seasonal ecovillage.
The remaining ten homes will house permanent and semi-permanent residents who have a gift for creating fun ourishing intentional community spirit and activities. This age-diverse group will anchor the community spirit in the ecovillage, and provide a consistent through-line as well as ongoing care of land, gardens and animals, as they look forward to the monthly reunion with the seasonal residents who return to their beloved ecovillage at the beginning of each new month. Homes will be built in three sizes: 1. Small houses at 500 square feet, 2. Medium houses at 800 square feet, and 3. Large houses at 1200 square feet. These are obviously much smaller than most modern houses, because they will include just a small kitchen and modest sized rooms, since the common house will offer a large beautiful kitchen, dining area, rooms for personal guests, recreation rooms, and much more that would normally have to be contained within a family home. Ecovillage residents will also have access to the hot springs, library, learning center, and special events site at the retreat center/resort across the street. Seasonal Ecovillage fractional homes are not yet for sale. This program is expected to come online in Spring 2010. Pricing for the seasonal ecovillage homes is expected to begin at about $65,000 for a small home for one month a year. Priority choice of desired home and desired month(s) will be given to those who have invested time and money as Founding Members of Avalon Springs.
